Dedication of House #171
Habitat Alamance dedicated our 171st house on Sunday, March 14th at 2pm. Markeyta Poteat will be the proud homeowner of 926 Ross Street….more
Habitat’s mission statement says: Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build houses, communities, and hope. Markeyta’s house was completely built during the pandemic (walls raised March 7, 2020), so it took longer and not quite as many people came together to work with her building the house, but they built hope nonetheless! Groups serving on 926 Ross St included General Dynamics Corp., Storied Church, Powerline Church, Zeta Beta Tau fraternity from Elon, students from Elon Chapter of Habitat and the Elon School of Physical Therapy, the Elon Environmental Services team, Habitat Board members, our Core Crew members, and other future homeowners.
In addition, the Burlington Carousel Quilt Guild has given Markeyta a handmade quilt for each of her children. First Baptist Church-Mebane gave her a basket full of household products. These housewarming gifts are a heartwarming example of how this community comes together to support Habitat families on their journey to homeownership.
We are grateful for the contributions of all who helped financially and physically by serving. We wish the public could have celebrated with us as we normally do, the pandemic required this dedication to be limited to a few family members, Habitat staff, and board members. A video clips of the service will be posted March 15-20 on the Habitat facebook page: www.facebook.com/HabitatAlamance.
