Women Build 2019 Events
We have had so much fun working on houses for Women Build in recent years, we are multiplying the fun this year with some added events. Please join us for ALL as a participant in She Nailed It–Women Build 2019.
Build Clinics–Thu, April 18th, 6:30pm OR Tue, April 23rd, 5:30pm
To help build your confidence and meet some of the other volunteers, you’re invited to Lowe’s Home Improvement Store on Huffman Mill Road to learn basic construction skills. It’s free to Women Build participants or to anyone thinking about participating. Come to either clinic. No RSVP necessary. The topics to be covered will be related to the tasks you’ll do on the job site.
Build Orientation–Tue, April 30th, 5-6pm, floating
Come and meet your fellow volunteers for fun and refreshments. Plan to spend about 15 minutes as you view sponsor displays, hear your safety talk, pick up your T-shirt and turn in your volunteer waiver. We ask that all build participants attend the orientation. If attendance is impossible for any build participant, special arrangements can be made.
Women Build Kickoff–VIP Build Shift on May 1st 8-11:30am
To kick off this year’s Women Build, we have invited women who are VIPs…local elected officials, CEO’s and senior leaders of businesses and organizations in our community…to begin our month of building.
She Nailed It Build Week–May 7-11th
This week we offer individual women an opportunity to serve on a build day and have lunch while you hear a short program from a Habitat homeowner. Approximately 50 women are needed to volunteer this week. You registration of $50 per person is a donation to Habitat to cover costs of the event. There is no charge for your T-shirt, build clinic at Lowe’s or the build orientation.
Team Build Days–remaining days of May up to June 8th (not including Memorial Weekend)
Corporate Sponsor Teams and Grassroots Teams will choose their build day from the remaining days of May and up thru June 8th. They will serve together from 8am-11:30am, enjoy a catered lunch with a program by a homeowner and have a great day of team-building.
Dedication–date to be determined
It’s a Habitat tradition to hold a dedication worship service to welcome the partner family into their new home. All volunteers, sponsors, neighbors, and friends will be invited for refreshments and to tour the completed house.
